Abstract: The national data show that there are disparities across racial and ethnic groups in several aspects of life including employment, with white people typically experiencing better outcomes (Wilson, 2009; Smiley, 2006). Not surprisingly, these disparities are also pronounced among people with disabilities (Allen & Aranglo-Lasprilla, 2010). The purpose of this article is to highlight disparities between white people and black people with cognitive disabilities, and to identify promising practices emerging in some American states.
