Abstract: Recent literature into the mobility patterns of US working age population show that inter-state movement has been low in recent years compared to a few decades ago. Based on decennial census data from 1980 to 2010, the share of state to state movers have moved from close to five percent in 1980 to over nine percent in 1990, and 2000, while declining to slightly over two percent in 2010.
