Abstract: Since its inception in 1965, the Medicaid health insurance program has aimed to provide healthcare access to low income pregnant women and children and provide financial protection from large out-of-pocket payments resulting from unanticipated health setbacks. Improved healthcare and family income outcomes are crucial inputs for education production. This thesis is dedicated to estimating whether Medicaid expansions improve education outcomes of low-income children.
