Abstract: This report identifies specific mechanisms by which out-of-school time (OST) programs can build effective bridges to encourage and affirm academic success among Black male students. Conceptually, we believe that existing OST programs that focus on workforce development, healthy lifestyles, safety and structure, and strong families can incorporate key elements that will influence Black males adjustment to school.
