Abstract: Rapid advances in computing are changing virtually every aspect of scholarly work in sociology. Most of these advances offer opportunities for sociologists to improve the quality of their work and bring new insights and approaches to bear on important problems. This discussion looks at the overall state of progress in applying computing technology to sociology, identifying areas or underdevelopment, and suggesting some future trends.
