Abstract: This paper studies the labor-market consequences of increased U.S. tariffs against Chinese exports using the specific factors model of regional economies of Kovak (2013) [18]. By per- forming a two-scales analysis, we find that states and commuting zones that were relatively more protected experienced faster wage growth (or smaller wage decline). We also find smaller employment rate decline in these commuting zones. Finally, we show that the model is robust to trade protectionism.
