Abstract: In the following section, we discuss the arguments for and against expanding school choice, along with some of the relevant literature. Next, we describe the types of high school choices that are available to families and students in Chicago and how they have changed over a 15-year period between 2002 and 2016, followed by a description of the data and analytic sample of first-time ninth-graders in CPS. Finally, we look at the potential consequences of choice and discuss their implications.
