Abstract: + Older workers typically experience longer bouts of unemployment than their younger counterparts. + Once among the ranks of the long-term unemployed, the chances a worker will return to work have been slim. + Prolonged unemployment has obvious consequences for current financial well-being, but its impact can extend well into the retirement years.
