Title: Race and Home Ownership from the End of the Civil War to the Present

Citation Type: Miscellaneous

Publication Year: 2010

Abstract: We present racespecific estimates of home ownership in the United States from 1870 to 2007. For the sample of households considered in this paper, the racial gap in ownership declined by 26 percentage points. Remarkably, 25 points of the long run decline in the gap occurred before World War One.
