Abstract: MDH partnered with the University of Minnesota to request the work of a graduate Capstone team to obtain current, reliable data to assess population size and geography of LEP communities. MDH planned to use this data to understand LEP groups in the state; to craft relevant, appropriate educational resources and health messages; and as a tool for MDH to allocate resources. The findings and recommendations related to the Capstone team's LEP data research are highlighted in the full paper. The team's analysis of current barriers to effective LEP communications, as voiced by MDH staff and community perspectives, is also included.
