Abstract: The given article is devoted to the major changes that have occurred in the historical demography abroad since the end of the XX century to the present. Russian researches found the term "new historical demography", but explanation of its meaning has not been revealed. Also, this term is not found in foreign publications on historical demography, available and examined by the author up to date. However, the meaning of the concept, the areas of its use as well as methods, technologies and sources associated with «new» historical demography present a certain interest. This article is part of a general research on the "new" historical demography in Russia and abroad, which examines trends in foreign historical demography at present time. The changes in the source base, in the methods and techniques of historical and demographic studies, as well as their influence on the change in the research fields have been analyzed. Basically, the focus of the given research was made on the development of historical demography in Western Europe and the USA, as there were carried out and conducted the largest research projects in this field, set up and operate large-scale public information resources for historical demography.
