Abstract: The Women’s Foundation commissioned researchers from the Center for Science Technology & Economic Policy at the Institute for Policy & Social Research at the University of Kansas to study the socioeconomic status of women in the states of Kansas and Missouri with a special focus on the Kansas City metropolitan area (KC Metro) and policy implications for the state of Kansas. Where relevant, we make comparisons on the status of women with other metro areas and with the U.S. as a whole. We compare women and men across a number of socioeconomic outcomes. Our report paints a statistical portrait of the status of women in the bi-state area.
