Abstract: Paid family leave has become a prominent topic of US policy discussions. In 2004, California became the first state in the United States to implement a paid family leave policy. The current body of research on California’s Paid Family Leave policy (CA-PFL), as well as most of the research on maternity and parental leave more generally, focuses on leave take-up and employment outcomes.
