Abstract: Women are underrepresented in construction, accounting for almost half of the entire workforce in 2021 but only 11.0% of the construction workforce. This trend persists among blue-collar workers; only 3.7% of construction workers are women, compared to 16.5% in all industries. The continuing labor shortages in construction highlight the need for a diverse workforce and for understanding growing workforce populations, including women, Hispanics, and workers 55 years or older.
