Abstract: As the large Baby Boomer generation, those born between 1946 and 1964, continue to transition out of the workforce, a new labor force landscape is emerging across the United States and in Minnesota. The labor force growth rate, once a once a guaranteed phenomenon for generating more workers to fuel economic growth, will slow down considerably. Our projections indicate slowing labor force growth in Minnesota until the nadir of only .1% average annual growth during the 2020-2025 period.
