Abstract: This chapter analyses the determinants of immigrants' citizenship take-up in Canada and the United States. It also reviews the recent literature on the economic benefits of naturalisation among immigrants to Canada and the United States and provides some evidence on the association between citizenship and labour market outcomes in these two countries.
